ALTERATIONS & TAILORING
Alterations and tailoring by an in-house Master Tailor
Hems, jacket re-tailoring, evening wear resizing and invisible mending, done by the seamstresses in the same building where your clothes are cleaned and pressed.
The shoulder that pulls and the zipper that quits
Most alteration trouble starts the same way. A jacket shoulder pulls when you reach for the wheel. Trousers break wrong over the shoe. A shirt balloons at the waist, or a zipper gives out on the morning of an event. People around West Palm Beach usually find these problems on the way out the door, which is exactly when a tailor down the road is no help at all.
Evening wear and vintage pieces fail in quieter ways. A lining shreds under the arm where nobody looks until the photos. A seam is open an inch at the side. A gown was cut for someone else and needs to be taken in, let out or restyled. Those jobs need hands that can mend cloth so the repair disappears, not a line of stitches laid over the problem.

Fitted at the counter, cut by a Master Tailor on site
Alterations at Spartan Dry Cleaners are done in-house, by a Master Tailor and seamstresses, not sent off across town. You come to the counter at 5500 S Dixie Hwy, put the garment on, and get fitted. For bigger jobs the counter books a fitting appointment, so the person marking the cloth is not rushing between customers.
For men, the work covers jacket re-tailoring, trouser refinishing and shirt slimming. For women, it covers formal and evening wear, couture resizing and restyling vintage pieces. Across both, the shop handles invisible mending, lining replacement, zipper and hardware replacement, and wedding dress repair, which pairs naturally with the gown care described on the wedding gown page.
If the garment also needs cleaning, the two jobs run together. It is cleaned, altered, then checked before the final press, so a quality check happens after the cleaning and before the garment is pressed and bagged. You are not handed a hemmed jacket that still smells of the road.
Clean and altered in one trip, and how to tell it is time again
Bring the garment, and bring the shoes you plan to wear with it. Hem length and trouser break are judged in the shoe, and a quick fitting goes much faster when the counter can see the finished picture. Call (561) 588-8645 if you want a fitting appointment, or if you would rather have the piece collected through the free pickup that runs across Palm Beach County and settle the details by phone.
Bodies change with seasons, weight and years, and so do garments. A suit that was right two years ago may need the waist adjusted. A zipper that sticks once will stick again. A lining that feels thin at the cuff is close to going. These are all cheap to catch early and awkward to fix on the night.
The counter's promise covers the cleaning too: if you are not 100% satisfied, bring the garment back and it is re-cleaned free. For fit, say so at the fitting. It is far easier to adjust a pin than a finished seam.
